Kharazmi University, the cradle of science and education in Iran
Kharazmi University is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Iran, which has played a significant role in the education of the elite and the scientific progress of the country for more than a century. Founded in 1298, the university is known by various names, including Teacher Training University, and was finally renamed to its current name in 1390.
This university is the first organized institution of higher education in Iran, which has experienced many changes throughout its history. Kharazmi University was initially established with the aim of training teachers, and over time, it added various fields of basic sciences, humanities, engineering, and education to its collection. Cooperation with prestigious world universities, such as the University of California, Los Angeles, has added to the scientific and educational richness of this university.

Kharazmi University has 2 campuses in Tehran and Karaj and has 14 faculties with different fields and degrees. The faculties are introduced below with brief descriptions:
Faculty of Geographical Sciences:
This faculty was established in 2010 and has 4 educational departments and 20 faculty members including 3 professors, 10 assistant professors, 4 associate professors and 3 instructors with 714 students in three undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degrees.
Faculty of Engineering and Technology:
Established in 2003, includes the educational departments of Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
Faculty of Basic Sciences:
Established in 2003, includes the educational departments of Geology, Biology and Physics, each of which is an independent faculty.
Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Sciences:
Established in 1997, includes the following educational groups: pure mathematics, applied mathematics, mathematical writing, and computer science.
Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences:
Established in 1993, includes eight educational groups: general psychology, educational psychology, clinical psychology, guidance and counseling, library and information science (information science and epistemology), educational technology, curriculum and educational planning, philosophy of education
Faculty of Literature and Humanities:
Established in 1994, includes eight educational groups: history, religion and philosophy, Persian language and literature, foreign languages, Arabic language and literature, sociology and Islamic studies.

Kharazmi University amenities
Kharazmi University of Tehran’s Facilities and Welfare Kharazmi University has provided very suitable facilities and services for its professors and students, some of which are mentioned: Kharazmi University’s Multipurpose Sports Hall This project was designed with an infrastructure of about 8,000 square meters based on international standards and has a capacity of 3,000 spectators. This hall allows for sports such as handball, volleyball, basketball, and indoor football. It can also be used for athletics training. The design of this project is such that the Faculty of Physical Education can hold scientific educational classes in it. Indoor Swimming Pool The infrastructure of this project is about 4,000 square meters and is designed to accommodate 300 spectators. The design of this pool, which also includes an educational aspect, is in accordance with international standards and also has a special swimming section for children. This project was handed over from the contractor in March 2003. Dormitory Facilities Two dormitory blocks with an infrastructure of about 4000 square meters each with a capacity of 300 people each were built using bank loans and have suitable facilities for student life. The university dormitory located in the university complex on the Karaj campus consists of 23 blocks. In Tehran, Shahid Keshvari and Lalehzar dormitories are reserved for male students, while female students reside in Shahid Hosseini and Somayeh dormitories. Library, Information and Documentation Center The university has two central libraries and a documentation center on the central site in Tehran and the Karaj campus. It should also be noted that each faculty has its own specialized library. The central library building in Tehran is considered one of the national monuments and one of the oldest higher education buildings in the country. Currently, this library building is under renovation and restoration. The new Central Library building in Karaj has six floors, and the total number of books available in the university libraries includes 210,820 copies of printed Persian, Latin, and Arabic books and 113 manuscripts.
