Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences and Health Services Yazd, nicknamed Yazd University of Medical Sciences, is a university affiliated with the Ministry of Health and Medical Education in Yazd. It was established in 1983 by the efforts of the third martyr of the shrine, Ayatollah Sadoughi, the first medical school after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, with the admission of 33 medical students, and in its continuation, nursing, midwifery and paramedical schools were established. Then, in 1994, in accordance with the plan to merge medical schools in the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, it was transformed into Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences and Health Services Yazd. As a result of the university’s continuous efforts, the faculties of health and dentistry were also added to this complex. Currently, this university is among the first-class medical universities in the country, and people from neighboring provinces refer to the medical centers affiliated with this university for treatment.
